Sadi Ma Boli

Sadi Ma Boli overview

Sadi Ma Boli, which means Our Mother Tongue, is a Punjabi learning app that teaches Gurmukhi to toddlers, kids and young adults. It is a customised eLearning platform designed to help children build a deep connection with their language, culture and faith, and to bridge the generational gap between grandparents, parents and children. The app is available on Google Play for Android and on the Apple App Store for iPhone.

The learning path begins at the first step. The Gurmukhi module covers letters, phonics, words, spelling and vocabulary, and new content is added on a regular basis. A Vocabulary module takes learners from basic words to higher levels, while a Stories module shares tales from history and ancestors, including sakhis, to motivate children and strengthen their roots.

Lessons are interactive. Children learn through tap-based animations and sound, and native voice recordings let them hear the correct pronunciation and speak with confidence. Parents and educators can follow progress, so they can see how a child is growing in the language journey. The app is child-safe: it has no ads and no distractions, and it collects only essential information such as a name and email.

The app suits several audiences: parents who want their children to learn Punjabi at home, teachers and Punjabi schools looking for supporting material, and young adults who want to read Gurmukhi for the first time. Searches such as learn Punjabi app, learn Gurmukhi for kids and Punjabi alphabet app describe what Sadi Ma Boli offers, and its ad-free design is a key reason families trust it.

Sadi Ma Boli is the result of more than a year of dedicated work by a collaborative team. Sathwara Infotech, a mobile app development company in Ahmedabad, built and published the Android and iOS apps. The project is an example of our education app development work, combining thoughtful content structure with a friendly, playful interface for young learners.

The challenge behind Sadi Ma Boli

For many Punjabi families living abroad, or in cities where English dominates daily life, children grow up understanding little of their mother tongue. Without regular exposure, Gurmukhi letters, pronunciation and vocabulary fade, and with them a link to culture, history and faith. Grandparents often feel the gap most, because they cannot easily share stories and values in the language they know best.

Existing learning resources rarely fit young learners. Printed books are static and depend on an adult being available to teach. General language apps seldom cover Gurmukhi properly, and many children's apps are full of adverts and distractions that parents do not want. Parents and teachers also struggle to see whether a child is really progressing or just tapping through screens.

Content is another challenge. Teaching a script and a language to a young child needs a careful order: letters before words, sounds before sentences, and simple stories before complex ones. It also needs correct pronunciation from native speakers and material that is respectful of culture and faith. Any app in this space has to get the content right as well as the technology.

Finally, families use different devices. Some households use Android phones and tablets, others use iPhones and iPads, and a learning app is only useful if it works well for everyone. The brief was to make learning Punjabi feel like play, from the first letter to full sentences, while keeping the experience safe, accurate and available on both major platforms.

Our solution for Sadi Ma Boli

We built a structured learning journey organised into modules. The Gurmukhi module begins with letters and phonics and grows into words, spelling and vocabulary. The Vocabulary module carries learners from basic to higher-level words, and the Stories module brings history, ancestors and sakhis into the experience so language learning is tied to meaning.

To keep children engaged, lessons use tap-based animations and sound. Native voice support lets learners hear correct pronunciation and practise listening and speaking, which is essential for a language that is often learned by ear. Progress tracking gives parents and educators a simple view of how a child is developing.

Child safety shaped many design decisions. The app has no ads or distracting elements, collects only essential information such as name and email, and follows global privacy laws. The interface uses large, friendly touch targets, clear illustrations and a calm layout so that even toddlers can use it with a parent.

We delivered the app for both Android and iOS from a shared design, then handled testing, store listings and release on Google Play and the App Store. Because the content model is modular, the team can keep adding letters, words, stories and topics without redesigning the app.

Beyond the first release, the modular design supports growth. New lessons, vocabulary topics and stories can be added regularly, which keeps returning learners engaged and gives the app fresh content for store updates. This steady content plan is one reason an education app can keep growing long after launch.

If you are planning an education app, a language learning app or a kids' app, Sathwara Infotech can help with content structure, UI and UX design, development and publishing on Android and iOS.
